Product Description

Viking Sun Catapult Tanning Lamps, FR59 VHO-R. Minimum number of lamps for shipping is 12.

Viking Sun Lamps are some of the very finest premium lamps on the market today. If you are tired of lamps that either quit working or your tanners tell you that they are getting no results very soon after you install them, then you really need to switch to Viking Sun Premium Tanning Lamps.

This particular lamp is a Catapult Lamp which means it goes in a tanning bed that has 160 Wt. lamps and possibly 140 Wt. lamps or a mixture of both. These are the FR59 which means they are a little shorter, 140 wt. and generally are found in a tanning unit that has a face tanning lamp or several and these are the ones that you use along with FR71 lamps in that same tanning unit.

Lamps for your tanning unit can make a huge difference as to the results you or your customers enjoy. When ordering lamps, it is very important to choose just the right lamp and of course when you order you have to know what size lamp you are ordering. (Price shown is for on lamp).

For instance, tanning lamps have several sizes that are most common although there are a few others: F71, F72 and F73 are the most common of the tanning unit lamps, some fewer common sizes are F15, F74, F75 and F79. So, it is very important that you know which it is you need before you order. In addition to the F number, you also need to know the UVB number that you need. Now that could be numbers like 3.3, 4.5, 5.0, 6.0, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5 and so on. These UVB numbers are very important, so you know the strength of the lamp you need or the strength of the lamp you choose to use. If you are purchasing a lamp for a commercial tanning unit (one that is used in a public place for customers) you may be needing a lamp that is compatible with the one that came in that tanning unit. Some states regulate what strength of lamp you are allowed to use in your commercial tanning unit, meaning if it was purchased with at 5.0 lamp in it, then they mandate you to only put replacement lamps in it that are that same strength, if you are uncertain about your state's regulations in regard to tanning units, you might want to check with them, not all states are regulated.

If you are getting lamps for your private tanning unit, then there is no regulation, you use any strength you choose. For instance, a 5.0 lamp is a solid twenty-minute tanning lamp where an 8.5 or a 9.5 lamp is really a 10-minute lamp. So, when you are lamping your own tanning unit and it currently is a twenty-minute unit you may like the idea of getting more results faster. It can be done by changing to higher UVB lamps. If you do change to more intense lamps than you are using in the unit, just remember that you will be getting more from the lamp faster so use caution to ensure that you do not get a sunburn.

In addition to the F number and UVB numbers it is important that you know some lamps have an R with the number which means there is a reflector in the lamp that increases the tanning results by intensifying the light rays. If you notice almost all tanning units, come with a reflector behind the lamps to give you more results faster, well the addition of the tanning lamp with a reflector has added another level of strength behind the light rays. Keep in mind when you have regulations as to what lamps you can use, that reflector may or may not be approved. A lamp would not be approved for commercial use if your tanning unit did not originally come with lamps that had reflectors so be sure to check closely. Again, for personal use, you can use them so you can achieve even better results, faster.

One last thing that you need to know is what wattage of a lamp you need: You will see HO on some lamps, VHO on others and even VHR on some and VLR on some others. HO is High Output and generally a 100-watt lamp. VHO means Very High Output and that generally is a 160-watt lamp. VHR is most generally a 160-watt lamp with an internal reflector and then the VLR lamp is a 100-watt reflector lamp. These are not the only markings that will give you the information you need, but they are very common. All lamps should say if they are 80-watt, 100-watt, 105 watt, 120-watt, 140-watt, 160-watt, 170 watts. 180 watt or even 200 watts.
